Last night a friend of mine and I decided to go see the much-acclaimed new movie, “The Hobbit”. Having seen “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, I thought that it would probably be pretty good and adventure-packed. I knew going in that the movie was close to 3 hours in length. That fact really didn’t bother me that much because I have seen movies that length before that were pretty good.
Well, I’ll have to say that I was disappointed. To me, this movie was almost like the first “Lord of the Rings” movie. It had a few different characters but it was basically the same movie. In my opinion, they could have accomplished the story line in about an hour and a half instead of almost 3 hours. I mean, come one, do we really really need to see a knock-down drag-out fight between rock monsters? Useless!
The main things that I did like about going to see this movie were, the popcorn was good and we chose to go to one of the lower priced theaters in the area.
If you really want to see this movie, you should wait for it to come out on DVD or PPV. Don’t waste your money by going to the theater to see it.
