Smart Facebook Strategery

Facebook-logoYeah, I know I used “Strategery” in the title of this post. I’ve got the squiggly red lines underneath the word to prove it. It’s almost slapping me in the face and saying “Whaaaat??” I’ll get to that in a moment.

A famous radio talk show host used the term “strategery” in some of his political commentary. I’m guessing you already know that I actually mean – strategy or being strategic.

Facebook, if you don’t know this, has around one billion users from all over the world. We, as marketers, have an opportunity to interact with a ton of those people – if we use some Strategery!

Here’s what I mean. You should plan what you post on Facebook. You’re not going to attract anybody to follow you by posting that delicious dinner you had last night in Downtown Charleston. People will not be enticed by your leadership abilities if you whine and moan in all of your posts. Jus’ sayin’.

We should plan our Facebook posts to be Emotional, Entertaining and Engaging. By Emotional, I mean that you should write something that is contributory and emotes love, significance or growth.

Being Entertaining speaks for itself. Be careful of the kind of jokes or humor that you post, though. Remember, we’re using Strategery here!

You can be Engaging just by interacting with the people that “like”, “share” or “comment” on your post. Most of all, be authentic and transparent with your peeps.

There’s a term I heard recently that speaks perfectly to what I’m attempting to say here. The term is Tribal Seduction Formula. The “formula” is basically an anagram using the word – CHARM. Here it is.

  • C aptivate attention

  • H ook emotion

  • A dvance trust

  • R adiate desire

  • M otivate to action

Facebook is the largest social network around these days but it’s, obviously, not the only one. Because of its sheer reach, we, as marketers, should use it as a tool in our respective businesses to be genuine to our friends, attract new followers and engage future prospects.Conversation at Caffe Nero

We’re in a relationship business. There are many ways to communicate with people in this Digital Age that we live. We can’t always be face to face. Let’s use the many tools at our disposal – mobile phone, email, social media, webinars and each other to get our message to the masses.

Knowing when, where, how and why to use these tools is where the STRATEGERY comes in.
